Sunday 9th May
Welcome to Lapford Community Church on this Sunday morning, especially if you have found us for the first time. Briony is leading our worship today.
Song - Be thou my Vision
Let the word of Christ live in us richly, flooding us with wisdom. Apply the scriptures as we teach and instruct one another with Psalms, and with festive praises, and with prophetic songs given to us spontaneously by the Spirit, to sing to God with all our hearts.
Let every activity of our lives and every word that comes from our lips be drenched with the beauty of our Lord Jesus, the Anointed One. And bring our constant praises to God the Father because of what Christ has done for us.
Colossians 3 : 17
In other words this is how we should live, committing everything we do or say to Jesus and continually thank God for all His good gifts.
Just for a moment, praise and thank God for His amazing gifts of music, song, prophecy and the psalms.
Let the inner movement of your heart always be to love one another, never play the role of an actor wearing a mask. Despise evil and embrace everything that is good and virtuous. Be devoted to tenderly loving your fellow believers as members of one family. Try to outdo yourselves in respect and honour of one another. Be enthusiastic to serve the Lord keeping your passion toward him boiling hot. Radiate with the glow of the Holy Spirit and let him fill you with excitement as you serve him.
Romans 12 : 9 - 12
The highest form of love is Agape. This is self sacrificial love. It involves the act of the will whereby one seeks the best for another.
The greatest proof of the truth of the gospel message and the reality of Jesus’ love is the love believers show to one another.
Are there ways we can show our love and concern for others ...
Praying for our Fellowship and other Churches in the village.
Praising and thanking God for each member of the Fellowship.
Thanking God that Jack’s operation was a success and he is well and truly back on form.
Thank God that as Lockdown eases we will be able to meet together and have have fellowship.
Pray that we will be kind to one another as we renew our connections, that we will encourage those who will find it difficult to meet up.
Please pray for the ARK. We have such an amazing gift, we can reach people and tell them about Jesus over coffee, cake and paninis. We are all called to serve, not just the people who volunteer at the ARK, but each one in the fellowship.
I pray that, God, the glorious Father of our Lord Jesus Christ will give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know Him better. I pray that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened so that you may know the hope to which He has called you and the riches of His glorious inheritance and His incomparable great power for us who believe.
Ephesians 1 : 17
My dear friends, I pray that you will remain strong and not be discouraged or ashamed by all that I suffer on your behalf, for it is for your glory.
And I pray that He would unveil within you the unlimited riches of His glory and favour until supernatural strengths flood your inner most being with His divine might and explosive power.
Ephesians 3 : 13, 14
The love of Christ is so great that it is beyond our understanding. The fullness of God is the abundance of gifts that flow from God.
Pause and thank God for His many blessings particularly His amazing gift of Jesus and His wonderful love for each one of us.
God says “How will My message be heard without a messenger of My Light? I need you to go with winged feet to carry the sounds of My voice to many people. So come away. Fly higher. Leave the vain things of this life behind and yield everything to Me. Partner with Me, and together we will release My truth to the world.
Many are searching for what I have given you. Take this gift and give it to those who are near. See each person through the My eyes of compassion. Show mercy, as I have shown you mercy. Never allow their sin to stir judgement within you. Let your family see that I live in you. And they will glorify Me. Never fear to share this gift with those in need, those who are hurting and those who are cold and hard. For hidden behind their hard hearts is a fragile soul that must experience this treasure. Open your hearts to them and share My love. Freely I have given this love to you, so freely share it with them. Tell them today they can experience heaven on earth.”
Don’t hide your light. Let it shine brightly before others, so that the commendable things you do will shine as light upon them, and they will give their praise to your father in heaven.
Matthew 5 : 16
Song - My Jesus, my Saviour
In the human body there are many parts and organs, each with a unique function, and so it is in the body of Christ. For though we are many, we are one body, we’ve all been mingled into one body in Christ. This means we are all virtually joined to one another, with each contributing to the other.
Romans 12 : 1 – 4
Christians are closely united because we are all members of the body of Christ. We are called to use our God given spiritual gifts to strengthen one another. The church is a unified body under the headship of Christ, but members have different functions.
Please pray for...
Christians worldwide, particularly those who are experiencing persecution in anyway.
Remember those who are caught up in wars, families who are displaced and are refugees, pray particularly for the children.
Remember our young people especially those who will be returning to University, or searching for a university for September. Please pray God’s protection on their lives, that He will watch over them, where ever they find themselves.
My hope is in the blood - Philippa Hanna
This Fragile Vessel - Praise and Harmony
As you now share the bread and wine together, spend a little time speaking blessings over each member of your family or remembering those who are not able to be with you.
As we eat this bread and drink this wine, we proclaim the death of our Lord until He comes again.
Song - An army of ordinary people
A new song for a new day rises up in me, every time I think how he breaks through for me. Ecstatic praise pours out of my mouth until everyone hears how God has set me free. Many will see His miracles; they’ll stand in awe of God and fall in love with Him. Blessing after blessing comes to those who trust the Lord.
Psalm 40 : 4, 5
J.John - Jesus is the One
May the love of the Lord Jesus draw you to himself, the power of the Lord Jesus strengthen you in His service, the joy of the Lord Jesus fill your hearts and the blessing of God, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit remain with you always. Amen
Have a blessed and joyous week.
